January 7th 2018 What is Your Passion

Today's post is inspired from a question I was asked from the younger generation. I was asked "How do I find out what I want to do when I graduate?" So let's talk about finding your passion.

Why is finding your passion important when asked about what to do after college. There's an old saying "love what you do and you will never work a day in your life." Why work at a hedge fund if your passion is teaching. We are blessed to be living in the digital age. We are no longer limited based on our geographic location. We are able to reach millions of people all from what's in our pockets. I'm talking about our phones and social media.

The first thing to do is find out what you love. As long as what you love does not involve causing harm to others you will be fine. Finding what your passion is will take some time. One way to make the search easier would be to refer to my post from the other day. You need to find your strengths because your passion might be buried in there. I knew I wanted to be a writer since I was in elementary school. I wrote short stories whenever I could because if you didn't find me with a book in my hand I had pen in it. Look at top business people like Mark Cuban and Gary Vaynerchuck. They started many small businesses when they were younger to make money and guess what they are highly successful in the world of business. One book that I recommend to help you find your Passion is Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success by Steve Harvey.

Once you have your passion you then have to learn how to make it work for you. If you like history and want to teach it why not give free lessons on YouTube. You like to sing then you are in luck because gone are the days of singing in the subways. You can get on SoundCloud and YouTube, just look at what happened to Justin Beiber. The main point is to focus on your passion. My friend's passion is sales so he took a job as a door to door salesmen. See you expected me to say he was using the power of the internet to grow his brand, nope. Some passions can't be satisfied via the web. If your passion is being a parent then just be the best parent you can be. The whole point of this post is to tell you to find your passion and try to build your life around it.
