Episode 38 - LG Was Weird And I Miss Them

In this episode of Tek With Josh, I look back at LG’s strange, creative, and often underappreciated run in the phone world. From the LG Wing and dual-screen cases to the G series, V series, Nexus collaborations, modular experiments, curved displays, and features like double tap to wake, LG was never afraid to try something different.

I never used an LG phone as my main daily driver, but I always respected what they brought to the market. Their phones were not always perfect. Some ideas were gimmicky, some had real problems, and some probably made more sense as experiments than products people would actually buy. But that was also what made LG interesting. They were willing to be weird in a market that now often feels too safe.

This episode is about why LG’s absence still matters. Smartphones today are faster, cleaner, and more polished, but they also feel more predictable. LG reminded us that technology does not always move forward through perfect ideas. Sometimes it moves forward because a company is willing to try something strange just to see what happens.
