Episode 27 -The Retired Killer Just Wants a Peaceful Life

What happens when one of the world's deadliest assassins decides he's done killing and just wants to live a normal life? In this episode of Manga with Josh, I'm introducing The Retired Killer Just Wants a Peaceful Life, a brand-new manhwa that blends action, martial arts, dark comedy, and surprisingly emotional storytelling. The series launched in September 2026, and with 24 chapters translated at the time of recording, it's a perfect opportunity to jump into something new.

Our protagonist has earned millions as an assassin, but money isn't what he's after anymore. He has a bucket list of ordinary experiences he wants to accomplish, including earning an honest paycheck, finding a regular job, and even adopting a cat. Of course, living peacefully isn't exactly easy when you've spent your entire life killing people. Between his struggles with everyday life, a rival assassin, and an entertaining supporting cast, the series delivers plenty of laughs while occasionally taking some unexpectedly dark turns.

I break down what makes this manhwa different from the usual overpowered-protagonist stories, why its comedy and artwork work so well, and why the cat might genuinely be my favorite character. Fair warning: the series explores mature themes involving violence, drugs, and prostitution, so it isn't for everyone. But if you enjoy action-packed manhwa with humor, heart, and a protagonist trying to leave his past behind, this is one series you should have on your reading list.

As always, this is Manga With Josh—where we explore manga and manhwa you may not have heard of, but probably should have.
