Episode 26 - Mr. Kim Strikes It Rich With Auto-Hunting
Mr. Kim Strikes It Rich With Auto-Hunting might look like another overpowered Hunter manhwa at first, but its main character isn't the one charging into dungeons and destroying everything himself. Yoon Hajun is a 23-year-old construction day laborer who awakens with one of the strangest jobs I've seen in this genre: Labor Management Office Head. Instead of becoming an unstoppable fighter, Hajun can summon workers, send them into dungeons and Towers, collect the rewards they earn, and even pay them wages and bonuses to keep his supernatural workforce happy.
In this episode of Manga With Josh, I talk about a series that is about as new as it gets. The webtoon for Mr. Kim Strikes It Rich With Auto-Hunting launched on September 14, 2026, and had only 21 chapters available when I recorded this episode. I get into the completed 200-chapter web novel behind it, why everyone calls Hajun “Mr. Kim” even though that isn't his name, and how its auto-hunting system turns the usual dungeon-crawling formula into something closer to a fantasy business-management game.
What really caught my attention is that Hajun doesn't necessarily become the ridiculously overpowered character you expect from this type of story. His workers do. He can summon everything from construction-themed orcs to incredibly powerful specialists who can clear content faster than some of the strongest Hunters in the world, while Hajun worries about things like registering as a Hunter, selling the magic crystals his employees bring home, keeping his identity hidden, and managing the growing operation around him. The series even brings crafting and blacksmithing into the mix as his summoned workers begin producing equipment he can sell.
If you already enjoy Hunter stories, systems, dungeon raids, Towers, crafting, and overpowered characters, this is an easy series to check out. If you've never tried the genre before, I also think its lighter comedy and unusual focus on Hajun managing the people doing the fighting makes it an approachable place to start. It's brand new, it's already moving quickly, and the completed source material gives the webtoon plenty of room to grow.
